Careers at DWS
DWS is building the industrial AI standard through people who understand
industries from the inside.
This is not a generic AI hiring board. There is
one career type here — Deputy
Captain — and two investor roles,
Captain and
Admiral, which sit on a separate
path. No mixed promises. No empty AI job listings.
Three roles, clearly separated
Deputy Captain
Hired or partnership role. Owns execution.
Captain
Invests and carries a defined industrial territory or sector.
Admiral
Invests and shapes several territories, sectors, or Captain networks.
How a role is named
Every role here follows one template — role family × industry × capability × jurisdiction, with economics and decision rights attached. The career type is the family. The industry and capability are the role identity. The jurisdiction is an operating qualifier.
Roles read like this
Deputy Captain, Steel CBAM Evidence, Finland/EU
Deputy Captain, Defence AI Safety, Sweden/EU
Deputy Captain, Sovereign Deployment, Arizona/Texas, US
Jurisdiction does not define a separate career type. It changes the deployment, legal, buyer and commercial conditions — not the person's fundamental role — so it belongs in the role title, mandate and requirements, not in a parallel ladder.
Deputy Captain
Deputy Captains own a specific industrial AI capability in a named industry.
This could be
sovereign deployment, compliance evidence, industrial sales, safety
argumentation, implementation, architecture, or domain operations.
This is not a generic AI career ladder. You are taking responsibility for an
industrial motion and earning authority through execution.
Every Deputy Captain role must state
- the industry
- the capability owned
- the jurisdiction it operates in
- the customer or revenue motion
- decision rights
- required evidence of competence
- compensation and partnership terms
If a role we publish here is missing any of these six, it is not ready and
you should tell us so.
The capabilities
Sovereign deployment
Standing the platform up on infrastructure the customer owns, in their
jurisdiction, to their residency posture.
Compliance evidence
Turning industrial process reality into evidence that survives an auditor
— CSRD, CBAM, ETS, EN 15978.
Industrial sales
Carrying a named revenue motion in one industry, from first conversation
to cash collected.
Safety argumentation
Building the case that an autonomous agent is safe to run in a regulated
industrial setting — and defending it.
Implementation
Getting a customer from signature to a system that actually runs their
process, not a pilot that stalls.
Architecture
Designing how data, agents and audit trail fit an industry's real systems
— ERP, BIM, plant historians.
Domain operations
Running the industrial motion day to day once it is live, and feeding what
breaks back into the product.
Something we have not listed
If you own a capability your industry needs and we have not named it,
propose it. Name the industry and the motion.
The industries
Every Deputy Captain role names one of these 25 EU-regulated industries. The
industry is not decoration — it is the thing you are taking
responsibility for.

Iron & Steel Production
Cement & Lime Production
Chemicals & Petrochemicals

Interested? Tell us the industry, the capability you would
own, and what you have actually run. That is the whole application —
we are looking for evidence of competence, not a cover letter.

Captains and Admirals are investor roles, not employment
promises.
Their economics, attribution rules, payment triggers, terms, and
responsibilities must be explicit. Full terms are shared directly on
